Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you serve?

We currently serve ages 4-8, with plans to expand as the school grows.

Do you have a waitlist?

Not a standard one. We build each year's group on purpose, looking at values fit, siblings already enrolled, and the spots we have.

Do you require vaccinations?

We follow Texas state rules, which allow both immunization records and official exemption affidavits. Families decide what's right for their kid, and we just keep the right paperwork on file.

Do children need to be potty trained?

Yes, children must be fully potty trained to join the program.

Do you offer financial aid?

Not in our pilot year. But we are offering a very competitive discount of 50% to our founding families.

Where are you located?

We’re located at 600 Cuernavaca Drive North in West Austin. Kindling Academy officially opens in September 2026 after extensive renovations over this summer.

What is your school calendar?

We follow a September to May calendar, similar to the Eanes public school schedule.

What are your school hours?

We run approximately 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM.

Do you offer tours?

Not right now, since another school is using the property. We'll share design plans and renovation updates through our mailing list and blog, and we may do online or in-person info sessions later in the summer.

Do you offer part-time or half-day schedules?

No, we offer a full-day program only.

Do children wear uniforms?

No, kids wear comfortable, play-ready clothing.

What should my child bring to school?

A packed lunch, water bottle, and a change of clothes, otherwise just themselves. We keep toys and personal items at home so kids can focus.

What is your weather policy?

We go outside in most weather except severe conditions. Covered spaces allow fresh air even on rainy or hot days.

Do you provide meals?

Not in our pilot year. Kids bring lunch from home. A chef-prepared meal program is something we hope to add as the school grows.

Are cell phones allowed for kids?

No. Kids don't bring personal devices. Technology only comes out for project work with the older kids.

Is your program screen-free?

The pilot class is mostly screen-free. The older kids use technology now and then, only as a tool to create with.

Do you teach gender or identity topics to young children?

No. We don't cover gender ideology, identity instruction, or adult social topics. We focus on early childhood development, emotional regulation, practical life skills, and hands-on learning.

Do you partner with outside wellness providers or recommend private practitioners?

No. We don't push or recommend outside wellness, therapy, or enrichment providers. We keep school and family choices separate so parents can decide what fits their kid.

Do you give homework?

No worksheets, no homework. Learning happens during the school day.

What are your class sizes and ratios?

Classrooms are capped at 20 students, with at least a 1:10 guide-to-student ratio.

What is your tuition?

Tuition for our inaugural school year is $1,500 per month.

As a thank you to the families who are helping us build Kindling from the very beginning, this tuition rate will be grandfathered for as long as your family remains enrolled.

Future tuition for new families is expected to increase as the school grows and demand increases. While future rates have not yet been finalized, founding families will continue to receive their original tuition rate.

We believe our first families aren’t simply enrolling in a school, they’re helping shape the community and culture that Kindling will become. Grandfathered tuition is one way we recognize that partnership.

Do you offer sibling discounts?

Not in our pilot year as we are offering a significant founding families discount already.
